High Volume Low speed [H.V.L S] Fans is a large ceiling fan that moves a High Volume of air at a low speed. The fan blades produce a massive column of air that flows down to the floor and outward in all directions, creating a deep “horizontal floor jet” that ultimately circulates air up vertically and gets drawn back through the top of the fan. During the winter heating season, the fans force warm air down from the ceiling to floor level, promoting improving temperature uniformity within the building and reducing heating costs. In warm months, the fans create a gentle breeze (2-3 mph). In addition to improving employ comfort, the air currents created by the industrial ceiling fans promote evaporation, minimizing condensation and moisture build-up on floors, humidity sensitive products, packaging and other surfaces. The main advantage of an HVLS fan is its energy efficiency. One 20 foot fan typically moves approximately 125,000 cfm of air. It takes six to seven standard fans to provide similar air volume. Most HVLS fans have a 1 HP motor, moving the same volume of air for approximately one third of the energy cost of six high speed fans.
